Colonoscopy

Minimally Invasive Screening For Your Peace of Mind

A colonoscopy is the most effective test for the detection and prevention of colorectal cancer. Colon cancer is slow growing and very preventable when detected early. Colorectal cancer starts off as a small growth, or “polyp.” Over many years, these polyps can turn into cancer. Cancer Care Ontario recommends that asymptomatic individuals without any family history be screened starting at age 50. By removing any precancerous polyps found during your colonoscopy, we can reduce the risk of you ever developing colon cancer by 90%.
Colon cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths for men and women. While common in adults over 50, colon cancer is slow growing and very preventable when detected early. And that’s a great reason to have a colonoscopy.

The most advanced
technology available

At Canadian Place Endoscopy, we use the latest endoscopic technology to diagnose disease in the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. Our high-definition endoscopes, used with Narrow Band Imaging™, provide us with sharper images and better contrast, helping us observe lesions in the colon more clearly. The technology also can shorten procedure time, which our patients especially appreciate.

A comfortable
experience

With on-staff physicians dedicated only to providing sedation, we are able to use the sedative Propofol to give you the most comfortable and relaxed experience possible. You’ll fall asleep quickly and wake up refreshed, with none of the grogginess or nausea associated with other anesthesia often used in hospitals.
For maximum safety, we conduct a pre-procedural medicine risk assessment clinic to ensure you will tolerate the sedation.

Follow-up clinic provides results in person

In order to provide more personal service, Dr. Rai conducts a weekly clinic, reviewing results and answering any questions or concerns you may have. It’s one more way we can offer the high level of care you deserve.
